I'm really getting into the build up to the world cup this year. I've never followed the selection of the final 23 and I could not stop refreshing my browser!!
As much as I had my own opinion of who should have been in the squad, as did every England fan, I was really gutted Walcott didn’t make it and shocked that Defoe did over Bent. The main thing is we must have faith in Capello and his selection, we must believe he knows what he’s doing and we must believe that the squad he picked can win it for us.
I feel this year is our year, ok we played rubbish in our last 2 warm up games but the big stage changes thing and I cannot wait to cheer them on. I'll be working for all of our games but I work in a pub so I think that’s kind of a win/win situation! lol! ok I cant drink but Im getting paid to watch my country, hopefully, lift the cup!!!
Im watching 'World Cups Most Shocking Moments' and Crouchy was just asked what World Cup he 1st remembers. For me it was France '98. England didn’t qualify for USA '94 and I was only little during Italia '90. I was in my last year at Junior school and I remember them allowing us to watch England’s Opening game in the school hall. We found the school poster paints and painted the flag on each others faces, put on our England shirts and sat in the school hall and watched the match. It was brilliant. I had also been on holiday to France a few weeks before the tournament kicked off so I had loads of World Cup crap from McDonalds and other French places!!! I don’t remember watching much of the tournament and I don’t remember Beckham’s red card, but I must have watched it with my Dad at home.
I also remember Japan '02 when England played Brazil. Due to the time difference England’s match was at 7:30am!! I remember watching it in bed, I remember watching Michael Owen put us 1 up and jumping on the bed, screaming in my pjs! I also remember pulling the duvet over my face when that free kick sailed into the back of the net :(.
I love the World Cup and I love supporting England. I love how the whole nation comes together as one to show support for the England Lads!
My shirts in the wash, I got the red and white face-paint ready and the flags ready to go up in the window.
Come On Boys, England Expects :)
